I got a twin-pack of these at a big box home-improvment store for twenty-three dollars (11 and a half bucks each). These are throw-away jobs. Be sure to have some good ones (Amerex, Ansul, Simplex-Grinnel etc. especially for larger sizes), but for extra placements, more frequent training use, these are hard to beat.
I recently took units that had been sitting in the kitchen and on the patio for more than 5 years and blew them out in training my wife and kids. They both worked great. I've heard the pickup tubes can dislodge from vibration in a vehicle but have not seen that happen. I have these in some of my vehicles, but my 4x4 has two more expensive units as well.
For training, these are perfect for most households that don't routinely service and refill their extinguishers.

This Kidde model "466141" (Kitchen/Garage) 1-time-use unit is exactly identical, in every respect, to the model FX10K (Kitchen) unit, except that this one is painted red, and that one is painted white. This one "466141" is currently $70 plus shipping, that the FX10K unit is $24.50. They have the exact same size, weight, identical chemical agent, labelling, nozzle, everything. Just the model number and tank color is different. I think $25 is a very decent price for a 1-time non-refillable unit, but $70 for a small non-refillable unit is too much. I recently paid $48 on Amazon for this same "466141" unit, and $24.50 for the FX10K, so someone is really playing games with the price of this particular "466141" model. Had I known it was exactly the same thing as the FX10K, I would have bought 2 FX10K's and just skipped this one. But I have no complaint about this model itself, just the price. C'mon, stop playing those games.

Bought two and one got used in a stove fire. It worked well and put the fire out before it became a real problem. 20 bucks is cheaper than thousands in repair damage after a fire.
